JOURNEY FROM DEATH ROW
John’s newsletter from Eastham Unit n°52
15th of June 2010
Dear all,
I apologize for sending this June newsletter so late, since it more than ten days late now. I was very busy for the last week-ends and could not find the time to write it before today. I will probably send the next newsletter in late July or early August, and then the following newsletter will be sent around mid-September, after some well deserved vacation. I wish you a very bright summer. Wherever you go, don’t forget to send a postcard to John so he can travel with you!

How is John doing these days?
John wrote me for the last time in late May. In his letter he told me he could get a visit from his Mom and younger sister Tiffany, for Mother’s Day, which was on the 8th of May in the US. He had not met with Tiffany for quite a long time and he was very happy with their visit, even if it was a short one (three hours). It has already started getting very hot in Texas, more than 30°C (90°F) and John hates when it’s very hot, because it’s very difficult to struggle against heeat in his cell.
What’s new about his judicial procedure?
Absolutely no news whatsoever from the Federal District Court. In his last letter, John told me abut a new ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States, Graham v. Florida, which would be in relation with the constitutionality of life emprisonment for juveniles. John had just written about it to his attorney when he wrote his letter to me, so he did not know whether this ruling could be useful in his case, but he hoped that it could open grounds for a new trial. The ruling can be downloaded on the SCOTUS website and is 84-page long. So far I have no other information to share with you about it.
