John’s newsletter from Eastham Unit n°43

JOURNEY FROM DEATH ROW
John’s newsletter from Eastham Unit n°43
15th of September 2009

Dear all,
Summer is almost over now. As far as John is concerned, it means lower temperatures (easier to bear). But waiting for a judge to make up his mind and rule on his case is still very difficult to bear. We thank all the people who thought about John during their holidays and sent to him some postcards. If you write to him this fall, you can add some pictures, they will help him cope with his living conditions in jail.

How is John doing these days?

John’morale is still rather low these days. He was lucky enough, and very happy, to receive several visits during the months of July and August, his Dad and stepMom, and also his Mom. Unfortunately, something bad happened during his Mom’s visit. A warden was opening a window behind her, when he was suddenly frightened by a wasp and jumped back so fast and hard he pushed John’s Mom and she fell on the floor. John’s Mom’sneck hurts, hopefully she could file an incident report before leaving the unit. But John is afraid she might not come back soon. She visits him only once or twice a year because her health conditions does not allow her to sit in her car for long.

What’s new about his judicial procedure?

Absolutely no news whatsoever from the procedure. Some of you have asked if this is normal, the answer is yes. There is nothing specific about John’s case, this is how it is in the US, appeals take time (and elsewhere than in the US too).

A new picture of John!
