John’s newsletter from Eastham Unit n°41

JOURNEY FROM DEATH ROW
John’s newsletter from Eastham Unit n°41
15th of July 2009

Dear all,

Summer is always a difficult time for inmates, espécially with the heat which hits the cells. If you are lucky enough to go on holidays, please don’t forget to take John’s address with you, so you can send him postcards. He loves them, they make him travel with you! You know that there are two particularly painful moments in an inmate’s life: Christmas season, that they can’t spend with their loved ones, and summer holidays, when they don’t receive as many letters as usual. So your support is really needed right now.

How is John doing these days?

John is probably under lockdown procedure right now, which means few showers per week, no access to the prison shop… We had send to you the description of lockdown procedures a few months ago, if you remember. It’s particularly difficult to stand in summer, since it’s currently very hot and humid in Texas, with no rain at all. John wrote he suffers a lot from the heat, he is sweating all the time, the cells of this old unit are not fresh at all. So far he has not received any reply from the authorities regarding his transfer request.

There might be problems in the mailroom. At any rate, John says he has not heard from anyone in France for a while now. This is why his morale is not very high these days. So if you don’t have time to write long letters, just write a few words on a postcard, he will be so happy to receive mail!

What’s new about his judicial procedure?

Nothing new to share with you.
